About the Partner

The Co-operative College in Manchester, United Kingdom was established in 1919 by the co-operative movement to provide education to co-operators. The focus was on learning how to run successful co-operative enterprises and how to behave ethically as a co-operator. It prides in its global reputation, developing into a centre of excellence for training, learning, consultancy and research. In the twenty-first century, it renewed its connections with all sectors of the co-operative movement and beyond, providing high quality education for existing and emerging co-operators around the world.

The College also manages the Rochdale Pioneers Museum and the National Co-operative Archive on behalf of the Co-operative Heritage Trust in United Kingdom.

The Partnership

This partnership is a product of CLIMBS’ participation in the global coop conference of the International Cooperative Assembly in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in November 2017. The CLIMBS Institute has been presented as a sustainable and inclusive model in capacity-building of coop leaders in the session “Cooperatives and the Future of Work”.  In one of its workshop sessions on Cooperative Education, a global learning was discussed briefly that led way to meaningful talks on this collaboration.

A testament to our values of cooperation and continuous learning, CLIMBS, through its education and training arm, the CIFL, continues to connect and equip our local leaders to a global network.

A vanguard of modern, sustainable cooperative learning and global cooperation, this partnership also coincides with the centennial celebration of the Co-operative College in United Kingdom and the Philippines’ cooperative movement entering into a new era beyond 100 years.
