CLIMBS PARTICIPATES IN ARBOR DAY – PLANT A TREE WHILE AT HOME

Ordinance No. 13548-2018 declared July 4 of every year to be ‘Arbor Day’, a day of tree planting in the city of Cagayan de Oro. It mandates that all abled-bodied residents of the City, who are at least twelve (12) years old and above are required to plant one (1) tree every 4th of July. It falls in line with this year’s International Day of Cooperatives (IDC) theme: “Cooperatives for Climate Action”.

Arbor Day is a time for people to come together and better their communities by planting trees. It may feel somewhat different this year, but the spirit of Arbor Day remains strong. Now more than ever, trees are a reminder of the better future we can collectively build. Aside from being able to practice the cooperative value of social responsibility, this is also an opportunity to show our solidarity with nations who have suffered forest fires, like the U.S.A, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Paraguay, Colombia, and Australia. CLIMBS is a launching a social media campaign and encourages you to plant a tree from the safety of your own homes. All you have to do is post on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook a picture of a tree you have planted with the hashtags: #CoopsDay, #Coops4ClimateAction, and #WeCLIMBaSOne. Together, we can create change through trees.
