CLIMBS Life and General Insurance Cooperative proudly joined London Climate Action Week, taking part in a series of high-level conversations and collaborative exchanges focused on disaster risk financing, renewable energy, and grassroots resilience solutions.
As a cooperative deeply rooted in community service and social protection, CLIMBS engaged with global thought leaders and technical experts from Global Parametrics, Celsius Pro, and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction’s Insurance and Risk Financing Technical Advisory Board (UNDRR IAB). Together, they explored the evolving landscape of parametric insurance and its potential to provide timely, efficient, and accessible protection to climate-vulnerable communities—particularly in regions like the Philippines, where natural hazards are increasingly intense and frequent.
CLIMBS also collaborated with Repowering London, a local movement advancing renewable energy and community-owned power models, which aligned closely with CLIMBS’ long-standing mission to foster inclusive, community-powered solutions. This exchange of ideas highlighted how cooperatives—both in the Philippines and globally—can serve as powerful engines for sustainability, resilience, and empowerment.
As a cooperative operating in one of the world’s most climate-exposed nations, CLIMBS recognizes that community engagement is not only a strategy but a necessity. By placing people at the heart of protection strategies and by integrating climate risk financing with grassroots empowerment, CLIMBS is helping shape a future that is adaptive, sustainable, and inclusive.
